Getting Started

This guide walks you through installing CometMIDI, launching the application, and creating your account.


  1. Download the CometMIDI installer from the official website
  2. Run the installer (.exe file)
  3. Launch CometMIDI from your Start menu or desktop shortcut (it should open automatically after installation)

When you first launch CometMIDI, the application automatically creates a Comet folder in your user Documents directory with three subfolders:

You can view and access these folder paths anytime in Settings → General.


The Main Menu is your central hub for all CometMIDI features:

Additional controls:

  • Profile — Access your account settings (top right)
  • Quit — Close the application

An account is required to use certain features like MIDI conversion.

  1. Click Login from the Main Menu
  2. Click “Sign up” at the bottom of the login form
  3. Enter your desired username (3-20 characters, letters/numbers/underscores only)
  4. Enter your email address
  5. Create a password (minimum 8 characters, must contain letters and numbers)
  6. Click Sign Up
  7. Check your email and verify your account
  1. Click Login from the Main Menu
  2. Enter your registered email and password
  3. Click Login

Tip: After logging in, CometMIDI remembers your session. You won’t need to log in again unless you explicitly log out.


CometMIDI offers two access levels:

Free30 conversions/month, watermark on recordings, staggered access to new features
Full AccessUnlimited conversions, no watermark, get latest features first

Manage your subscription in Settings → Profile → Manage Subscription.


Now that you’re set up:

  1. Convert a MIDI file — Create your first .comet song
  2. Record a video — Export your creation
